A meeting with S\u00e9bastien Cayouette, co-owner, about this microbrewery which obtained support from the SADC Baie-des-Chaleurs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A Thumbnail Sketch of the Business<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established by three young Gaspesians, Marc-Olivier Forest-Poirier, S\u00e9bastien Cayouette and Marie-Pier Dion, the\u00a0<em>Microbrasserie La belle aventure<\/em>\u00a0is a festive location where people like to gather. It offers five classic beers \u2013 blond beer (a lager), red beer, white beer, IPA and stout. Season beers boasting local tastes are added from time to time. Its bistro-bar showcases regional products (smoked salmon, salsa, cold cuts . . .) Gaspesian liquor, strawberry and rhubarb wines from the\u00a0<em>Ferme Bourdages Tradition<\/em>..<\/p>\n<p><strong>In What Way is your Business Unique?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to S\u00e9bastien, the microbrewery stands out first of all by the various aspects it features, by combining the production and marketing of its beers, the events aspect and the bistro-bar. \u201cThere is a different ambiance at the bistro, something that was not in Bonaventure and the area. This is a festive gathering place!\u201d According to him, the beers brewed by\u00a0<em>La belle aventure<\/em>\u00a0are distinguished by their quality, the local ingredients which are advantageously used, and their accessibility. \u201cBlond and white beers are sure to please everyone who wants to taste microbrewery beer for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Have You Chosen to be an Entrepreneur?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always knew that I would be an entrepreneur\u201d said S\u00e9bastien, who studied administration. \u201cI didn\u2019t know in what field, but I always had this project in mind.\u201d Fond of beer, he and his partners wanted to have a project dealing with this common passion. \u201cDuring our trips, we always visited microbreweries. We liked the atmosphere they would give to a village. So we said to each other: why not bring this home to Bonaventure? We wanted to create everything by ourselves, from A to Z, something that would be true to us and which would suffuse life into Bonaventure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did Support From the SADC Help You?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>La belle aventure<\/em>\u00a0obtained a loan from the SADC investment fund. S\u00e9bastien underlined the fact that he had obtained advantageous loans in his Strat\u00e9gie jeunesse (Youth Strategy) program. \u201cThey got on board the project right away! They were the first to accept it and were always very flexible in their loans and conditions. They are very proactive. It\u2019s easy to work with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell Us About a Noteworthy Achievement of Which You Are Especially Proud as an Entrepreneur (for Example, in Sustainable Development)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This winter,\u00a0<em>La belle aventure<\/em>\u00a0will market its beers in cans. They will be sold on site at the bistro and in grocery stores, deps and in specialized businesses in the Baie-des-Chaleurs region. \u201cIn one year, we will be targeting the Gasp\u00e9sie region,\u201d proudly mentioned S\u00e9bastien. On the other hand, to enhance its residual materials, the\u00a0<em>Microbrasserie<\/em>\u00a0gives its beer production residue to the Ferme Le Caprivore, which uses it to nourish its animals.\u00a0<em>La belle aventure<\/em>\u00a0also experiments with local products. \u201cIt\u2019s important for us to enhance local products,\u201d specified S\u00e9bastien. Last summer, the microbrewery\u2019s seasonal beer was developed with haskap berries from the\u00a0<em>Verger Cambrook<\/em>\u00a0in Bonaventure. Tests will also be conducted shortly with coffee roasted in the Gasp\u00e9sie region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Advice Would You Give to Anyone Who is Considering Starting Up a Business in the Baie-des-Chaleurs Region?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersevere\u201d said S\u00e9bastien. \u201cNot listen to people who try to discourage you. If you believe in your idea, you\u2019ve got to do it!\u201d He said that he and his partners dealt with various obstacles during the development of their project, from 2019 to 2022, right in the middle of the pandemic. \u201cIn three years, we often told each other that the project would not go through.\u201d According to him, when there are challenges, you mustn\u2019t stop but rather \u201cfind innovative ways to deal with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>About the location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marc-Olivier Forest-Poirier, S\u00e9bastien Cayouette and Marie-Pier Dion purchased the former restaurant Rendez-vous in the heart of Bonaventure in 2020, to install their bistro-bar.
