COVID-19: $ 71.3 M AND ADAPTED MEASURES TO THE NEEDS OF SMALL REGIONS

Quebec, May 13, 2020 – The Réseau des SADC et CAE is very pleased to be able to deploy in the coming days, the financial assistance granted by the Government of Canada within the framework of the Regional Assistance and Recovery Fund (RIFF). As announced today by Minister Mélanie Joly, whom we again sincerely thank, $ 71.3 million will enable the SADCs and CAEs to help businesses in all regions of Quebec cope with this extremely difficult period.

Our efforts will focus on supporting local businesses and services, as well as tourism businesses that create the economic dynamics of our towns and villages in the regions.

The aid will be in the form of loans on advantageous terms, but also in the form of technical assistance or specialized expertise in areas such as adaptation to health measures, the development of a financial continuity plan to prepare for the future or the adoption of technologies for online commerce. The 67 members of the Network will also be able to implement or collaborate in collective visibility initiatives for businesses and local purchasing promotions.

” Many discussions with Minister Mélanie Joly and her team, as well as the collaboration with Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, have paid off,” said Daniel Dumas, President of the Réseau des SADC et CAE. “We have been listened to and the procedures in place target the problems that companies have expressed to us on the ground.”

The SADCs and CAEs, as they have been for 40 years, will be there to help their community face this crisis and to become attractive and prosperous living environments for their citizens.
