THE CAE RIVE-NORD SECURES FUNDING TO REVITALIZE THE RCM OF ARGENTEUIL TERRITORY

ARGENTEUIL (Quebec), October 11, 2018 – The CAE Rive-Nord and the Réseau des SADC et CAE are pleased to announce the addition of new funding to support the revitalization of the RCM of Argenteuil’s territory. The CAE will use this funding of at least $140,000 from the Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) for a pilot project to open a point of service in Lachute and to hire a professional to serve as a resource person for the territory.

In addition to the CAE’s current range of business support and financing services, Argenteuil residents will also have access to different programs, such as the Youth Strategy to support youth entrepreneurship, and the Small Business Support Initiative to provide entrepreneurs with specialized expertise. New funding will also be made available to launch local economic development projects.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED said that: “By supporting local economic development organizations, CED contributes to inclusive growth that meets the needs of communities while helping to create and maintain quality jobs where they are needed most. Quebec’s SADC and CAE are key regional economic development partners in Quebec, and I applaud their targeted initiatives that contribute to the strength of the province’s regions.”

Josée Courville, President of the CAE, said she is thrilled by the news of this funding, which will enable the CAE help meet residents’ needs. “I would like to thank Canada Economic Development for putting these concrete solutions into place and the Réseau des SADC et CAE for supporting us through our efforts to better meet the needs of the RCM of Argenteuil.”

Daniel Dumas, President of the Réseau, explained that “this project is the result of a collaboration between the Réseau des SADC et CAE, the CAE Rive-Nord and CED. In response to the difficult economic situation of the RCM of Argenteuil and given the current high demand for assistance in the area, we decided to implement these services that are so essential to the vitality of the communities.”

According to Gilles Nantel of Vizüsolution, the whole area, including entrepreneurs in Argenteuil, stands to benefit from this new contribution. “We had help, but we needed more!” he stated. “It’s so important to be able to count on assistance from the CAE. Because of it, I was able to develop an innovative strategy and acquire new equipment. Their solutions are simple and quick, and that’s what we need to succeed.” Vizüsolution has been manufacturing melamine panels and components in Lachute for five years.

Recall that the programs soon to be implemented in the RCM are already offered by 57 SADC in Quebec and have had excellent results. According to a study by Statistics Canada, for the past eight years, companies supported by a SADC or a CAE have a higher rate of success after five years than those that are not.
