Montmagny to host its first ever merging talent day

Montmagny, July 9, 2026 – Whether in music or entrepreneurship, emerging talent will take centre stage at Place Montel in Montmagny on Saturday, July 25, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. During the very first Journée de la relève, organized by the Ville de Montmagny, the talent and energy of local youth will be in the spotlight. This is a unique opportunity to discover local up-and-coming talent and support the next generation of artists and entrepreneurs in our community!

Starting at 1 p.m., with the support of the École internationale de musique, several emerging musicians will have the opportunity to perform on stage. Piano, accordion and vocal performances will be among the highlights. Two increasingly well-known young regional bands, Ignite The Flame and Eternal Bastard, will also take the stage.

“There are many talented young musicians in the region, but there are not many opportunities for them to perform on stage, in front of an audience and in a professional setting. With the Journée de la relève, we wanted to give them that opportunity,” explained Philippe Beaumont, Events and Tourism Officer with the Ville de Montmagny. A musician himself in his spare time, Beaumont knows just how challenging it can be to get started in the industry.

Call for Young Entrepreneurs

Alongside the musical component, young entrepreneurs will also be given a prominent place at the event, thanks to the collaboration of the Centre d’aide aux entreprises (CAE) Montmagny–L’Islet, the Société de développement économique (SDÉ) de Montmagny and Carrefour Région Montmagny. Entrepreneurs aged 40 and under whose businesses are located in the MRC de Montmagny and who would like to have a booth at the event are invited to reserve their spot now at ville.montmagny.qc.ca/releve.

For just $25, participants will receive a prime booth location, including a table, chairs and electricity upon request. Most importantly, they will have the opportunity to sell their products or services directly on site. They will also have a chance to be named the People’s Choice Business and win Montmagny gift certificates provided by the SDÉ de Montmagny. Only 25 spaces are available, so entrepreneurs are encouraged to register quickly, as spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Behind every young business is an idea, a passion and a great deal of boldness. By joining forces for the entrepreneurial component of this event, we want to provide the next generation with a place to connect, raise their profile, meet members of the community and showcase their full potential,” the partner economic development organizations concluded in a joint statement.

The organizing committee is, of course, hoping Mother Nature will cooperate, as the event will unfortunately be cancelled in the event of rain. To learn more about the Journée de la relève, follow the various partners on social media or call 418-248-6022.

CAE Montmagny–L’Islet Invests $15,000 to Help Expand Les Escapades

Investment will support the project’s continued growth and official expansion into the MRC of Montmagny

Montmagny, July 3, 2026 – The Centre d’aide aux entreprises (CAE) Montmagny–L’Islet is investing $15,000 to ensure the long-term sustainability of Les Escapades and support the initiative’s expansion throughout the Montmagny Regional County Municipality (RCM). Recognizing tourism as a powerful driver of economic development, the CAE is reaffirming its commitment to an innovative initiative that showcases local entrepreneurs while generating lasting economic benefits across the Montmagny–L’Islet region.

This partnership reflects the CAE’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the local economy while enhancing the appeal of Montmagny–L’Islet as a destination. More than simply a place to visit, Montmagny–L’Islet is a region best discovered through its people and experienced in an authentic way.

Launched in 2024 in the L’Islet RCM, Les Escapades offers distinctive tourism experiences that invite visitors to discover the region from a new perspective. Designed and led by local entrepreneurs, artisans, producers and passionate community members, these experiences immerse participants in the heritage, local flavours, culture and landscapes that define the identity of Montmagny–L’Islet.

Les Escapades demonstrate that economic growth can be achieved by building on what makes our region unique—our entrepreneurs, our expertise and our ability to welcome visitors. An experience such as a yoga retreat on Isle-aux-Grues combined with the discovery of local culinary specialties perfectly illustrates how our heritage can become a distinctive tourism product. This is exactly the type of initiative the CAE is proud to support in order to strengthen our local economy,” said Mireille Thibault, Executive Director of CAE Montmagny–L’Islet.

Thanks to this partnership, 28 Escapades will be offered by winter 2027, including five new experiences in the Montmagny RCM. Each experience will provide participants with the opportunity to connect with passionate local hosts, discover often-overlooked places, and learn the skills and traditions that make our region unique.

The project’s impact is already being felt. Even before its official launch in the Montmagny RCM, the very first experience, Intuitive Watercolour in the Heart of the Lavender Fields, presented at Cap Lavande in collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Rose Hamel, sold out. This enthusiastic response highlights the growing demand for authentic, people-centred experiences rooted in local identity.

Les Escapades are, above all, about people. Behind every experience are inspiring women and men who open their doors, share their everyday lives and invite visitors into their world. We are delighted to have the support of CAE Montmagny–L’Islet as we continue this adventure and introduce visitors to the Montmagny RCM from a fresh perspective,” said Manon Leclerc, Coordinator of Les Escapades.
